Welcome to the backyard, where we're celebrating Samhain with some ancestral magic, but with a twist. This ain't your mother's ancestral magic (pun totally intended).
This wheel of the year sabbat is all about ancestral remembrance and veneration, but what do you do if you don't like your ancestors (or don't know them)? This episode will give you a solid ritual to clear negative ties from ancestors (and living relatives), while pulling in more positive aspects from them at the same time.
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and some candles, and join us in the backyard. Let's release some ancestral baggage!

Hello, lovely listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Backyard Magic. I'm your host, Nicole Berrios, and we are in full swing autumn here in the desert. There are no leaves that change colors in the fall here. Um, that doesn't happen until like January, sometimes December, if it's particularly chilly, which is weird. It's we do get a fall. It just happens in the winter. We get a fall like everywhere else. But what we do have here is very like the mornings and the evenings have been beautiful and cool. It's been raining a lot, which is completely magical. So it just it just feels good. It feels so good. And it's like a little bit more damp than it usually is here, so you could smell like the earth in a way that you can't usually smell here when it's dry, which is almost always. It's just so so beautiful. But then there's other little signs of fall, like woodpeckers. We'll see if he comes up on the audio. Uh, they are not mutually exclusive to the fall. Uh those woodpeckers are out there all the time making quite a racket. You guys should look them up. Uh desert woodpeckers. They're they're striped, like they have striped tail feathers, like black and white. For the longest time I had no idea what birds made that made that noise. I could only hear them. I never saw them. And I used to call them the monkey birds. I mean, listen to them, they sound like a bunch of monkeys. Nope, they're little woodpeckers, they are obnoxious. So, anyways, there are other little signs of fall happening here, such as, and things that people only in the desert would appreciate, such as the coconut oil is now solid at room temperature. I know that sounds completely silly and like something most other people that don't live in the desert wouldn't understand. But for like five months out of the year, if you have coconut oil in your cupboard, it will be liquid, like is completely liquid. So when I go into my cupboard now to reach for the coconut oil, it is solid. And well, it's mostly solid. It's like solid, like thick, thick, goopy, kind of like gelatinous. And over the next month or two, as it continues to get even cooler, it will be actually like hard. You have to gouge it out. So, yeah, that's that's how we can tell that it's fall around the desert, is that your coconut oil is solid at room temperature. Also, I don't think this is a desert thing, this is just a at my house thing. When I first moved in here, I had gotten somebody gave me like these prism stickers. They're like the kind of stickers that are clear and they're meant to be put up in windows, and you know, they've got like rainbow prisms in them. I I don't really know how like how you would word it. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about though. You put them up in the window, and like when the light hits them a certain way, it creates rainbows all over the walls. And so I had a couple of those that someone gave to me. I didn't think about where to put them. I just like we have a big sliding glass door, and I just stuck one on the sliding glass door, and it's not that big, it's like the size, like not that much bigger than a silver dollar. So I just stuck one up on the window. And coincidence, coincidence or spirit, I don't know. But the way that this thing is positioned on the sliding glass window, there's only two times of year where we get rainbows from this thing, and they're at the transition periods. What like one happens in the springtime and the other happens in the fall, and it's not for all of the season either, it's only for the first couple of weeks of fall and then the first couple of weeks of spring. Something about the way that the sun is positioned in the sky uh at this time of year hits my rainbow prism sticker thingy perfectly, and we get rainbows. That was completely by accident. I did not intend to do that, but I feel I feel like I have my own little mini stone henge in my house, you know, where it's synced up perfectly with the fall and the spring equinoxes, so that I get beautiful rainbows for a couple of weeks if before the sun shifts again, and then I don't get rainbows anymore. But then they'll be back. They'll be back for the next, well, for spring. So that's that's how we celebrate fall here is uh prism, rainbow prisms, and um solid coconut oil. Anyways, what is in my mug today? Because it is cooler, I have been feeling like I just want some more like comfort drinks lately. So I took myself up to Sprouts and I got a box of uh it's Numie Brand, N-U-M-I, Numi Brand, uh Roibos, chocolate roibos tea. I've only gotten this a couple of times. I try not to get it that often because it's kind of like it's a special treat. It it feels like a rich, ridiculous sort of drink. But it is roibos tea, so that's like red tea. I could drink that because it doesn't have caffeine. Um, organic cocoa powder, cocoa shells, organic honey bush, and a little vanilla. It's so good. I cooked like today, I just bought it this morning, so I made some this morning with uh almond milk. So I just I cooked it straight with almond milk and then I sweetened it with some agave today. So good. It's kind of like hot chocolate, but not. I don't know. It's just it's so good, it's so rich. I feel very filled. Like this might have been too too thick and rich of a drink for me for this morning, but that was kind of what I wanted, so I just I just went with it. That being said, I've got uh how many bags are in this box? There were 16 bags. Okay, so I have 15 bags left of this. I don't think I'm going to be making it fully with almond milk every time I sorry, technical difficulty. I'm I'm probably not going to be using almond milk every time I make it. I'll probably try making it with water sometimes and just adding a splash of milk so that it's less like thick and filling and rich. So we'll see. Like I said, I've got 15 more bags to play around with it. But yeah, that's what's in my mug today. And we are just a couple weeks out from Halloween. How exciting! I know everybody makes a big deal about this being the season of the witch and the witch's holiday, you know, all the things. That's great. I am glad that we can be a little bit more out and proud, especially at this time of year. Like, I could dress up as a stereotypical witch without the green face and the wart and all that. And nobody bats an eye. Like, they just assume that I'm dressed up for Halloween, which let people think what they want. I think it's kind of fun. But that being said, there are so many different traditions that take place in multiple cultures around this time of year. In America, we celebrate Halloween, which is like most other American holidays, just a commercialized capitalistic mess of buying stuff and eating a bunch of junk. I'm not the biggest fan of American holidays. I feel like we've ruined a lot of stuff. Yeah. Like, there's already Christmas stuff out right now. Even my my seven-year-old kid, we went, I don't know, to some store recently, and you know, there we walked through an aisle of Christmas trees and Christmas ornaments, and my kid was like, why do they have Christmas stuff out? And I'm like, you know what? I don't know. I don't know. Just to get people to keep buying, like, keep buying, keep spending. Uh, yeah, I'm not a fan of not a fan of Americanized holidays. I don't know what it's like in other countries if you guys are as commercialized as we are. I hope you're not, because it sucks. And I feel like I have to go out of my way to uncommercialize things for my family. And even then it's hard because it's like so enmeshed in the culture that if you have a school-aged child, they're going to get exposed to the commercialized bullshit and expect that as what you do for certain holidays. So there will be costumes and there will be candy, but it will not be happening on the actual date of the 31st. It will be happening this weekend instead, so that we can have the date of like that whole weekend of the 31st and November 1st for what we're going to be talking about today, which is ancestral magic, like the heart of what this season is actually all about, not just the commercialized mess. I got a little on my soapbox there. Didn't mean to do that, it just happened. But you know, we're hanging out in the backyard. And I had a little sugar from my my yummy drink. All right, so let's get into it. This episode is going to be titled like Low Maintenance Ancestral Magic or something like that for Sawin. And Sawin is what Halloween is based off of. It comes from the Celtic tradition. I've never been to Ireland at this time of year, so I don't know how it's actually celebrated nowadays. But that's that's kind of where like the way that we celebrate Halloween in America, you know, the horrible commercialized capitalist version of it, originally came from the traditions of Sawin from Ireland. And when we're talking about the wheel of the year and the way that it's celebrated nowadays, Sawin is what they call this particular Sabbath or this, you know, cross-quarter holiday. So that's the word that I'm gonna use, just so that we're all on the same page. We're talking about Sawin. However, it's not like celebrating ancestors is not exclusive to any one particular region. This happens all over the world, especially at this time of year. So I live in Arizona, I'm I'm in a border state, and you know, we we border Mexico, and I've I grew up in Southern California, so I've my whole life I've always had a lot of Mexican friends as part of my community, just you know, because we live right by Mexico. So I've always been aware of Dia de los Muertos, which is um the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. If you guys have never seen like pictures of it, you should look it up. It's such a beautiful festival. Like all the the decorations and like the face painting, I freaking love it. Like at the at the library right now, they have they have like this really cool big floor-to-ceiling window with like these little tiny ledges in the windows. And every year, for at this time of year, they decorate each one of those little ledges with like an ancestor altar. And then they they decorate it with like the sugar skulls and like everything from Day of the Dead. And it's so pretty. And so I was I was just in there recently, like admiring their their Dia de los Muertos setup that they have. So that's that's one culture, you know, another culture that celebrates the this, you know, ancestor reverence that happens at this time of year. So many other cultures do as well. Like other parts of Latin America will celebrate like renditions of Day of the Dead. Um, in Italy, they celebrate. Oh, I looked it up. I'm like, what do they call it? Italy is where my ancestors are from. They call it All Souls Day. Il giorno de morti. One of these days I'm gonna learn Italian. Seriously, it skipped one generation, like that's all it takes, one generation, and then the whole language is lost. I could have learned Italian as a kid, but I didn't. Oh well. But yes, that's what they celebrate in Italy and in other parts of Europe too, like more of the Catholic nations. I think Spain and France might also celebrate um All Souls Day. And I believe in the Philippines they celebrate something at this time of year, too. What is it called? UNDAS UNDAS is what they celebrate in the Philippines. Yeah. People clean and repaint graves, camp out overnight, share meals. Yeah, it's super interesting. This is one thing that I I was highly fascinated about when I was doing my shamanic training, because I learned core shamanism, which means it's not tied to any one particular lineage or culture. It's the essence of what all shamanic practices all over the world do. Like the the essence of the work that they that they do. And it's just fascinating because like all of these cultures from completely unrelated places that never had contact with each other, all do the same thing because we're all tapped into the same same planet, you know, same energy, even if we're thousands and thousands of miles apart. And so that's one of the things that I think is fascinating about this time of year, is that all these cultures from all over the world, like seemingly unrelated places, people have never associated with each other, but they all have similar holidays and they and they all like are celebrating the same theme, which is uh celebrating your ancestors. Okay, so that's what we're gonna be talking about today is ancestral magic. And I didn't want to get too much into like the history of any of any of this because this isn't a history podcast. I kind of just wanted to brush upon it that this isn't exclusive to any one region of the world, like many regions, many cultures, many countries celebrate something to do with ancestors at this time of the year. So, first of all, what is an ancestor? An ancestor is defined as a person from whom you're directly descended, typically someone who lived before you. That's like the traditional definition. This time of year is tricky because a lot of people don't like their ancestors or just aren't the biggest fans of their families. Some people may be adopted, they might not even know who their ancestors are or where they came from. So I know this time of year can bring up all sorts of big feelings. So I wanted this episode to be a little bit different in that you don't have to, if you're going to practice ancestral magic, you don't have to know who your ancestors are, you don't have to like your ancestors, you also don't have to, you know, acknowledge ancestors whom you didn't resonate with or who were, you know, bad people in their lifetimes. You don't have to. So this definition, a person from whom you were directly descended, I don't fully resonate with that definition, especially as a shamanic practitioner. I don't think that you need to be directly descended from somebody in order to consider them an ancestor. I think that so long as you're being respectful, you can pretty much claim this is my hot take. I think you can claim anybody as an ancestor so long as you're being respectful. Um, I think that you can claim animals as your ancestors. I think it's more than logical to claim the earth as your ancestor. This is from where we all come. The elements can be your ancestors. If there are famous people who have passed that you really, really resonate with, you can claim them as your ancestor. I mean, for your personal private practice, I don't really recommend, you know, like wearing a t-shirt and going around shouting from the rooftops that, you know, like David Bowie is your ancestor. I wish David Bowie was my ancestor. But if I'm going to be doing my own personal spiritual practice at home in private, I could potentially do ancestral work for David Bowie. Like, that could be part of what I do for my ancestral magic practice for Sawin for this time of year. So just something to think about. You don't have to be directly descended from somebody in order to have them as an ancestor. That's just my hot take. Take it or leave it. Disagree with me, that's cool. But again, I think this is it's meant to be personal. So long as it's personal, so long as you're being respectful, I think it's okay. And when I feel like it's kind of hard for me to breach this subject because you really do need to know how to do shamanic journeys in order to do this. But if you are in a position to where you can communicate with like the spirit of this ancestor or person, you can just straight up ask them, do you would you be okay with me, you know, um honoring you as an ancestor of mine? You could you could do that. I mean, honestly, if you think about it, we are all members of the human race, are we not? And I feel like we're anybody that passed before us can be considered an ancestor. So that is just my opinion. So hopefully that that relieves any pressure that you may be feeling, that you need to be performative or you need to give lip service to ancestors that are, you know, actual blood relations of yours that you never liked in life and still don't like in death. Um, or if you are adopted or just otherwise don't know your family history, and you, you know, that doesn't feel good to you, and this time of year makes you feel uncomfortable, that's okay. You don't need to know your family history in order to work with ancestors. So hopefully that clears it up. Okay, so a lot of what you will hear about as far as this time of year and working with ancestors is you know, making an ancestor altar. Like I was just talking about what they do at the library. I think it's all the library, the librarians and the people that work there that put together little altars. It's so so cool. Like I think it's per as personal, like they're personal little family altars. So that's one way that you can do ancestral magic, is just remembering the the deceased in your life. Um but you know, there's there's lots of other things you can do. I know some people will like set a place for an ancestor or just for the the dearly departed at their table, you know, with a meal. Um some people bake things that their loved ones enjoyed in life. And they, you know, you know, like reminiscing, sharing stories. It's basically a way to keep keep the dead alive, like to keep the memory of of people that came before you alive. I feel like that's kind of the gist of ancestral magic. But I'm gonna put an entirely different spin on this because of course I am. And I originally, when I was writing down my notes for how I wanted to do this episode, I thought it was going to be like that. Like, here's just some basic stuff you can do, simple stuff for like honoring your ancestors. But then I just have been having some beef with some living family members lately. And it made me realize that I'm in that position where a lot of you guys might be too, where yeah, you're just not really having the best time with your your current relatives, your deceased relatives, and maybe you don't want to be honoring them. Another hot take. Like, because this is a time where it's all about like honoring the the dearly departed. But what if you don't want to? Like, what if you're not feeling it? Also, I think this time of year can be useful for working with um people who are still alive, because they will be your ancestors eventually, if we're going by the blood relation definition. And so I think this is what I'm going to be doing this year since I've got a little bit of family drama going on. I want to clear this family drama from my experience. So this. This year I put together a little ritual. I'm gonna sh tell you guys about it, tell you guys all about it so you know what I'm gonna do. And if you are interested, you can kind of copy mine or you know, create your own version based off of mine. But this is going to be a practice where I let myself be angry with the family dynamics and fully lean into that experience because I want to clear it from my life, or at least I want to change my relationship to it so that it doesn't have such a firm hold on me. And then from there, kind of like what I do in my shamanic sessions, we clear things first and then we fill the void with power. Okay. That's exactly what I'm gonna be doing for my ancestral practice for Sawin this year. Less about ancestral reverence and more about I don't like the impact that these ancestors have made on me in my life, and I would like to cut cut these ties, these cords of attachment, and move on, basically. So that is what we are going to do. Like I said, I thought this would be a little bit, a little bit of a different spin on this, and also because it's accurate, and this is what I needed for myself. And if I need it, then somebody else out there probably needs it too. Also, something that I wanted to add if you haven't already like noticed this about me, I am definitely not one of the love and light, everything is unicorns and rainbows type people. Don't get me wrong, I am a hardcore optimist. I would definitely consider myself an optimist the majority of the time. I always like to look at the bright side of things, find the silver lining. Glass is half full as opposed to half empty. That's just my MO. However, I am a big fan of diving headfirst into the muck of really crappy emotions and bad feelings, because that's where you have to go if you want to heal things and move on with your life. And so I am I'm definitely not like everything's magical, everything's wonderful a hundred percent of the time, because that's not real life, that is not realistic. And I like to acknowledge both, like life can be awesome and life can also be really, really sucky. And that's that's normal. Like there's supposed to be balance in in things, you know, like you can't have the good without the bad, and that's okay. I'm I'm not I'm not one of those people that's like you have to think positive all the time, or you're only going to manifest crap. And like there's some truth to that. I feel like you can take lessons from that particular mindset, but it's also not realistic because I feel like it's uh bypassing. That's the that's the word that everybody uses nowadays, the spiritual bypassing, like pretending that everything is fantastic when it's actually not. And I feel like this impedes a lot of people's progress on their journeys, is that they're trying to bypass all of the hard stuff so that they can get to the good stuff instead. And my friends, that's not how it works. Take it from me. I've spent the last almost 20 years of my life doing this, diving headfirst into the muck. If you want a positive outcome, you have to get rid of all the crap first. That then you have to admit that it's there, you have to face it, you have to deal with it. And that is what I am going to be doing with my ancestral magic for this year. Okay, so I just I wanted to say all of that. Like, we're not talking about love and light. I mean, at least not yet. The love and light will come later. Um, and we're not going to be spiritually bypassing or emotionally bypassing or any of that. We are going to be acknowledging when things are not going great. We are going to feel the lousy feelings that come along with all of that. We're going to see them, accept them. And then once they've run their course, they we're going to let them leave our bodies. And then we're going to see how we feel from there and decide where we want to go from more of a blank space, a blank canvas. Okay. Alright. So for this ritual magic, whatever you want to call it, that I'm going to be doing, remember this is backyard magic. Everything is super simple. You don't really need much of anything other than yourself, your attention, and in this instance, some candles. If you can't light candles in your home for whatever reason, just get the little electric ones. And you can just turn them off when you're done. Or ring a bell or something, you know, like something to signify that it's done. But if you can light real candles, definitely go for it because the burning, I feel like the burning part is important. Alright, so what I plan on doing, getting two candles. I thought that this would be similar to my balance magic ritual ritual that we did for the fall equinox. I'm gonna get two candles. Um, and I just use the little chime candles because they're not that big, they don't take that long to burn down. I'm gonna get one black one and one white one, or some other light color, uh, maybe a light blue or a pink or some some other warm, warm type color. If you don't have candle colors, like all you've got are white, like tea light candles, that's fine. Use whatever you have. Like the colors don't matter, it's the intention behind it. But if you do have a black and a white candle, just go for it. Use what you have. So the black candle is going to represent all of the stuff that I'm annoyed with about my current living elders and some of the ancestors that came before them that caused the problems with the elders that are now being passed on to me, and to an extent, my daughter. Okay. The black one is going to represent all of the crap, and then the white one is going to represent like the positive spin. But we're gonna deal with the the ick first, okay? So I'm gonna take that black candle. I might carve some things on it. Um, I might write crappy words on there or like mean thoughts, whatever. Or you can also write stuff on paper and burn it in the candle, but do that outside if you're gonna do that, or just be mindful that you don't set anything on fire. Don't set off your smoke detectors, it's very loud. And yeah, so I'm gonna carve some stuff into the candle. I think I'm gonna dress it in an oil as well. I might even put some herbs on it. So this is gonna be this candle is representing all of the bad stuff that I want to acknowledge that is crappy and I want to get rid of it. So I might coat this candle in honestly, probably just olive oil. And then I feel like I would put an herb on it that's kind of intense. Maybe, maybe nettles. I've never burned nettles before. When you get nettles, like at an herb shop, the stingers have already been removed from them, so you can safely handle it. So I I might just use like that, like the herbal nettles that are safe to handle, but you know that what was on them was stinging and ouchy. Just be careful, don't hurt yourself. I'm gonna see how nettles burn. I might do this outside just to be on the safe side. Yeah, and then I'm gonna sit down. I'm going to meditate for a few minutes, and I am going to like the stuff is already top of mind, so it shouldn't be that hard. And if you also are not feeling the best about your elders, your ancestors, people in your family, it should be easy for you to do this too. But I am going to feel all of the bad emotions. This is like full permission to go all in and just feel crappy, unfiltered, nobody's watching you. This isn't for performance. In fact, I highly recommend that you don't do this with anybody around. Like, do this alone if you can, because you're I feel like you'll be hindered or you you will be filtered if somebody else is in the room because you're you're not doing this for anybody. You're doing this you can feel the full range of your bad feelings, okay? So long as it's like safe for you to do so. If you are, if you don't feel like you can come out of these emotions um by yourself, then maybe this isn't the ritual for you. I feel like maybe that should be a disclaimer. Please, nobody come at me. Okay. This is all like for entertainment purposes only. This is the ritual that I will be doing. Okay, if you guys want to do it and try it, cool. Make sure that you know yourself well enough to know whether or not you can move through bad feeling emotions. If you know that you're the type of person that can't do that, then don't do this ritual. So, there we go. There's the disclaimer. Everybody be safe out there, okay? No burning the house down and no getting stuck in bad feelings if you already struggle with um emotions and anxiety and mental health and that sort of thing. Okay. So I will be doing, I will probably go outside. I'm going to sit by myself and I'm going to meditate, and I'm going to allow all of the crappy feelings that I've have kind of been lingering in the background for me to come up to the surface. And then from there, I'm going to light my candle. And then as the candle burns down, or I guess this will kind of work both ways. So as the candle burns down, the the feelings will start to dissipate, but I'm going to intentionally like egg this along. And um, this is a shamanic technique actually, where you kind of imagine the the bad thoughts, the bad feelings as like their own entities that are stuck in your body, and I will be grabbing those, pulling them out of my body and throwing them into the fire and letting them burn away. And then I will do that until I feel like I'm complete, and then I will just continue to sit and let that candle burn all the way down. And then from there, I'm gonna take a breath and see how I'm feeling. Do I feel better? Do I feel worse? Whatever it is, it will it will pass. Like emotions always pass. I'm just gonna let it be whatever it is. And I think from this point, like that's that's kind of like the neutral point, the halfway point. I'll probably spritz myself with some water, maybe smudge myself or smoke cleanse myself with whatever herbs I've got on hand, and um, or maybe stick my feet in the water because we have a pool outside. Stick my feet in the water, just kind of like let everything fully clear from my body. And then from there, I'm gonna take another deep breath, and then I'm going to light the white candle, which I will probably do this the same sort of thing. I will oil it up and then dress it in a different herb, something more uplifting positive, maybe like lavender or rose petals or demonia, something like that. Dress it up in some other herb. And my intention for the white candle, once I have like fully acknowledged all of the crap that I wanted to get rid of with the black candle related to my ancestors and living relatives, I'm going to use the white candle to bring in the energy that I actually want in my body. So this I will meditate on whatever that feeling is, and honestly, I don't know what that feeling will be until after I've done the black candle ritual. It's spontaneous, right? But one thing that I do plan on doing, we'll see how it goes, like once I'm in the moment, but one thing I do plan on doing is using the white candle to acknowledge the positive qualities of my ancestors and my living family members, because they're not all bad, you know. Like, as far as I know, I'm not related to Hitler or a truly horrific being. I don't think so, anyways. I'm like, all of my ancestors have good positive qualities that I have inherited to an extent, you know? And so I basically I just want to be cut cutting ties with all of the negative stuff and instead fully embracing the positive. And I feel like this is going to be, I think of the hanged man in the tarot. Like it's going to be a a perspective shift because I've been focusing a lot on all of the bad things that are really bothering me about my family lately. Um, and by the way, this includes my deceased father-in-law, who I again, like I'm not actually related to, but I am, I think of him as an ancestor of mine because I married into the family, you know, so there's another example of like an ancestor does not have to be a blood relation to you. But I I want the perspective shift because this stuff has been holding me back for a while. So I'm gonna just we're gonna clear all of the negative stuff from from the ancestors that have been impacting my life. And instead, I'm going to learn to accept that it wasn't all bad, there was some good, and that's what I want to be focused on, like and just healing all around, not just for me, but for them too, because wherever these ancestors are on the other side, they could probably use some healing too. And by me intentionally doing this ritual, I should be setting everybody up for success, and it should also, you know, trickle down the line to my my daughter and hopefully make it to where she doesn't have to deal with the same lineage problems that I have dealt with. I'm hoping that it ends with me, and if it gets passed down to her, I'm hoping that it will be very easy for her to manage and deal with. So yeah, when I'm done with that, I will probably I feel like I might drum. I don't know. I feel like there needs to be some some percussion in here. I might drum or rattle and go take a bath. I don't know. Like I said, it's meant to be spontaneous and like dependent upon how I'm feeling in the moment. But that's the gist of what I'm gonna do. The two candles, one candle for releasing all of the crappy ties, and then the second candle to remember that's gonna be my remembrance piece, my ancestral magic remembrance piece. Like remembering the positive about those who who came before me, and honestly, those who are still here, but you know, came before me anyways, and changing my relationship with all of it. So yeah. I think that's pretty much it. Let me look at my notes here. Was there anything else I wanted to mention? Oh yeah, I wrote down a note. There is a really good resource on ancestral um healing. It's it's a book. It's called Ancestral Medicine. I'll put it in the show notes. And the author is Daniel 4. F-O-O-R. Again, I'll put it in the show notes. It's a very, very good book for anybody who is feeling kind of like I am and like has some sticky stuff going on with ancestors, or if you just want more ancestor reverence in your life, this book is a really good resource for how to begin to cultivate relationships and healing with your ancestors. Um, yeah. Yeah, I feel I feel a little bit raw and vulnerable right now. Apparently, I really need to do this ritual. So I'm just gonna leave it at that for today. If you guys have any questions, reach out. I'll put my contact information in the show notes too. But I hope this helps. If any of you guys do this ritual, let me know how it goes. Again, be safe. Don't put yourself in a position that leaves you worse off. You know, be safe, be mindful, know yourself. But if you're up for it and you're ready to dive headfirst into the muck, like I said, that's kind of my MO. That's just what I do in life. I feel like that should be my profession. I don't know what I would call myself a professional shadow worker, I think is what it is. I am a professional shadow worker. If you're up for that sort of thing and you can handle it, by all means do this ritual. And I really, really hope it helps. Thank you all so much for listening. Happy Sawin. Uh Feliz Dia de los Muertos, um, happy All Souls Day, All Saints Day, like all the holidays, happy Halloween. I will talk to you guys in a couple weeks. Until then, I'll see you later. Bye.
